When and where does the Gay Pride take place?

Gay Pride Maspalomas takes place from the 4nd to the 10th of May in the heart of the tourist centre of Gran Canaria, and more specifically in Playa del Inglés, both in and around the CC Yumbo Centre.

When was it first celebrated?

Gay Pride was held for the first time in 2001 and became the event that marked an important milestone in the history of LGTB Pride in Gran Canaria and in Spain in general.

1. Concerts and shows

During the 7 days of Gay Pride, numerous events take place throughout the day and, as with everything else, concerts and shows are a must. We highlight the following shows and their dates:

• Made in Canarias Gala on Saturday 9 May.

• Pride Talent Show on Sunday 10 May.

2. Theme parties

As well as the concerts and shows, the party never stops, especially the themed ones, which are one of the main reasons so many people attend Gay Pride every year. The most outstanding parties for 2026 are:

• POPera Party: Back to the Future on Monday 4 May.

• Please Disturb Pool Party on Tuesday 5 May.

• Pink Pool & Foam Party on Wednesday 6 May.

• Wet & Hairy (Bear Pool Party) on Thursday 7 May.

• Sundance The Next Level Pool Party on Friday 8 May.

• Ice Cream Pool Party on Sunday 10 May.

3. Cultural events and conferences

Amidst all the partying and fun, we can also find cultural events and conferences. Following the tradition of previous years (such as the 2023 book presentation of “Tierra Amarga”), the 2026 edition will feature art exhibitions and Human Rights talks held near the Yumbo Centre and local cultural hubs during the first half of the week.

4. Big Gay Pride Parade

And, to put the icing on the cake of more than a week of festivities and colour, there’s the most massive event of the festival:

• Gran Cabalgata del orgullo (Pride Parade) on Saturday 9 May.

It starts at Avenida de Tirajana, passing the Axel Beach Maspalomas and arriving at the Yumbo Shopping Centre, where the party continues with the final shows and "mogollones" (street parties).
