Quality and environmental management policy
The main goal is to offer a quality service, obtaining maximum satisfaction from our clients and reducing the impact that HD has on the environment. For these reasons we consider vital the implantation of both a Quality and Environmental Management System, committing ourselves to periodically check procedures, products, and services within the framework of activities developed in PCTF that can affect quality and environment. The principals to achieve this goal are as follows:
Identify the procedures, services and procucts, identifying and valuing constantly their impact on the environment and client satisfaction.
Rigor in the complience of standards and requirements established in the rules of Tourism Quality and Environmental standards, the apliable legislation, and any other compromise that the establishment adopts.
Improve procedures by establishing objectives and goals, define actions to improve day by day clients satisfaction and the environmental performance of our activity.
Foment the participation and groupwork of all staff , motivating and implicating employees in the procedure of continuous improvement, such as correlation of environmental issues between employees, providers, subcontractors and clients.
Encourage continuous training as a tool to boost people and establishment development.
Develop the establishments´compromise with the destinations economical and social environment.
Diffuse within society our values and the information that is evidence of our compromise to improve our environmental protection.
Offer our services to be used and enjoyed by everyone, regardless of the limitations or disabilities of our clients.
Description of the enviromental management system
The Environmental Management System is a voluntary instrument that permits the establishment to manage its environmental behaviour basing on three fundamental pillars: the compliance with environmental law, continuous imrprovement, and the implication of all interested parts (staff, clients and suppliers). HD Parque Cristobal Tenerife disposes of an implanted quality system since 2007, new elements of environmental management have been incorporated to the systems documentation.
The Environmental Management System is composed of the following elements:
Diagnosis of the environment.
Quality and environmental management policy.
Prescribed in legislation and legal requirements.
Environmental programmes that include the neccesary actions to meet the desired goals.
Documentation of the Environmental Management System, that consists of:
Management manual. Includes a description of the establishments responsabilites, also a control of activities and all involved parties that are susceptible to have effects on the environment.
Procedures. They describe the development of the activities announced in the Environmental Management Manual.
Environmental Instructions. Documents that describe the steps to follow regarding activities or procedures tat can effect the environment.
Environmental registrations. Documents that prove the compliance of the Environmental Management System, and the legal requisitions.
Internal Environmental Audits, as a tool for the management, to evaluate the procedure and compliance of the implanted Environmental Management System´s requisitions, and to identify oportunities to improve. (Last internal audit took place on the 6th November 2012).
Annual revision of the System on behalf of the management, to evaluate the level of implantation and efficiency, and to establish new goals regarding the continuous improvement of environmental protection. (Last revision took place on the 6th November 2012).
Our staff are the most important value of HD Hotels and Resorts. Without them, it would not be possible to maintain the good operation of our sustainability plan. Our staff express our culture of responsability, we offer a good working environment, of diversity, respect and equality, with no tolerence for discrimination of any type.
Our clients are the axis of our business and our main goal is to always offer the best quality and excellent service. In order to do this, we work towards the constant search for new sustainable products and services in all of our hotels. To measure the perceived quality, all clients allocated in HD Hotels & Resorts receive a satisfaction questionnaire. These questionnaires are sent weekly, to acheive an idea of the level of satisfaction trough the number of valuations received.
In HD Hotels and Resorts we consider our suppliers as a group of interest to help consolidate our compromise with sustainability. This means counting with responsable associates, that assume their role of sustainable and ethical development in a chain of value, and collaborate with innovative ideas.
HD Hotels & Resorts performs various actions for environmental management:
Control segregation and waste.
Reducing the consumption of water, electricity, washing towels, chemicals, etc.
Control wastewater discharges.
Noise and emissions control.
Non dangerous. Residues are segregated, quantified, and sent to the municipal waste service for posterior treatment.
Initiatives for clients. Collection points in different public areas of the hotel, as visible as possible for clients, to show that we do segregate residues.
Initiatives for staff. Collection points in different internal areas of the hotel for staff to use.
Dangerous. The establishment is a Small Producer of Dangerous Residues, and it has an arrangement with an authorized company to collect these residues. There is a designated area for these residues, and they are also quantified and stored correctly.
HD Parque Cristóbal Tenerife tries to make clients aware of their responsability in reducing usage of water, electricity, chemical products, etc., reminding guests using small posters in all of the bungalows. This practice has been improved by incorporating a system for guests to choose the frequency of towel and bed linen changes.

Sensors on outdoor lighting for public areas.
Motion sensor lights on public toilets.
Hand dryer proximity sensors.
Solar panels for hot water bungalows.
Watches for lights in common areas.
Departmental manuals of good practice for the reduction and control of electricity are avilable.
Card holder for interruption of electric supply in bungalow.
Magnetic sensors for doors and windows for disconnection air conditioning.
Use of fluorescent light bulbs and gradual introduction of LED.
Door sensors in cameras for automatic lights desconection.
Replacing of tube televisions for flat tv LED technology.
- Elements for the reduction of water consumption:
Discharge double button cisterns baths.
Taps with aerator mixer in bathrooms and kitchens and public.
Single lever bathtubs with flow restrictor and aerator in bathrooms.
Departmental manuals are avilable from good practices for the reduction and control of water consumption.
Irrigation with hose is almost zero in the complex.
Watches for automatic irrigation control.
Use of sprinklers, difusers for gardening, and droppers in garden.
It is held annually a wastewater discharges analytical.
Pails of retention for chemical discharges.
Dry sand for spilllage or leakage of chemical wastes.
Noise and Emission
It is performed a data monitorization for each stay: consumption (electricity, water, gas), kg clothes washed (internal and external), consumption of chemicals (cleaning, gardens, swimming), cooking vegetable oil recovery, segregation of waste (paper, plastic, glass (and hazardous waste), emissions to the atmosphere (boiler), discharges (sewage), noise, biodiversity.
The Environmental Statement is a public document through which a company communicates to all parties involved and entities that request it, information on the impact and environmental performance of the organization.
