HD Hotels is celebrating the merits obtained in sustainability by its two hotels located on the island of Lanzarote, a unique setting that has always been at the forefront of tourism and the development of natural resources in the Canary Islands. The achievement of the Travelife Gold represents the fulfilment of the corporate commitment to sustainability of the Canarian hotel chain HD Hotels, which in the last year has achieved recognition for environmental protection in all its hotels, including those in Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
The HD Pueblo Marinero, an exclusive hotel for adults located in Playa Blanca, has been recognised above all for leading a glass and container recycling project, with the help of the Town Hall, Cabildo and residents. According to the hotel's director, Fernando Benítez, the Travelife Gold "has also served to involve the staff in social commitment and to make clients aware of Lanzarote's historical, geological and cultural resources".
The HD Beach Resort Hotel in Costa Teguise, which is intended for families and ideal for water sports enthusiasts, also received the coveted Travelife Gold during the past week. This is mainly due to the value of a series of actions in the commitment to the preservation of the natural environment and social development, for example, the selective collection of waste or the creation of an environmental progress report that helps to improve annually in reducing energy consumption. The hotel's director, Manuel González, also highlights his collaboration with various social projects to help the island's local community, such as Emerlan (Association of Volunteers in Emergencies and Rescue of Lanzarote), Sonrisas Solidarias and Sara (Association for the Protection of Animals and Plants).
